Sure he can preach, but is he living a righteous life?

I remember watching an old NFL clip of the legendary football coach Hank Stram during Super Bowl IV. As he paced up and down the side lines barking at his assistant coach for not calling a certain play, it was very clear that he knew the right play that would win the game.
The play he really wanted to run was called 65 Toss Power Trap. “Why won’t they run 65 Toss Power Trap” he vigorously shouted over and over again. Finally his offensive coordinator agreed with the coach and called the play. To the delight of Coach Stram and the fans of the Kansas City Chiefs, it worked. Touch Down!
Why won’t preachers preach against Sin? This Sin word is often treated like kryptonite by Pastors who really need to address the outbreak of moral issues that are infesting their congregations. Why won’t they just get away from all of the “money cometh to me now” crap and first deal with this issue of sin? Are we true practitioners of Christ or simply fans in the stadium of a game gone horribly wrong?
Many orthodox believers are now asking the same questions as we watch the life styles of believers slip into deeper depths of moral lewdness and lawlessness.
Legacy of Sin
When we really take a closer look at this issue of sin then it is very easy to blame it all on the events that took place back in the Garden of Eden, but I think even that is a cop-out. There has been so much Free Will Sin since Eve and that famous Apple that you can no longer use her as an excuse for the current lust that we have engaged in. Blaming current sin on Eve is the equivalent of saying the dog ate my homework, really!
Shall we also blame Catholicism and “Pope Leo X” (as Martin Luther so bravely charged in tolerating perverted priest in 1518) for the pedophile priests of today?Shall we also blame Charles Parham the founder of modern day Pentecostalism who was arrested for sodomy ( San Antonio Light newspaper July 20th, 1907) for the current sexual perverts embedded in the Church of God In Christ?
Shall we also blame Paul Crouch (CEO of TBN) for releasing a scandalous spirit amongst his cast of prosperity preachers as a result of a cash settlement to a former staff member?
Having said that, there is still reason to take a closer look at the Sin Meter of our church leaders, and those who present the Word of God each and every Sunday morning. How much blame can we place at the feet of those in charge of spreading the Gospel for the current condition of the Church?
Over and over again we have allowed Pastors to remain in their positions after admitting extra martial affairs, children conceived with women in the congregation, and homosexual relationships. We as the Body of Christ have repeatedly lowered the standard of what is required to stand in this pulpit and preach the Word of God. So who is at fault really?
Turn To Your Neighbor And Say PISS Him
If you were to have an accident on your job as a result of poor judgment then it would be considered standard procedure to have you undergo a drug screen / urine test. The purpose for this test is to determine if a substance, whether legal or illegal, was the cause of your accident or poor judgment. At this point your future employment with this company is contingent upon the results of your urine screen.
Urine is often the preferred method of testing for illegal substances or levels because it can provide evidence of the current chemical influences of the person in question. Urine tests are the equivalent of shining a flashlight into your body and taking a look around. Whatever is inside of you chemically will leave a trace within your bodily fluids, in this case your urine test.
If poor judgment in the work place would require a mandatory urine test why wouldn’t the poor judgment of a Pastor who fornicates require the same type of test? There can only be a test if there is first of all a standard to measure those results. I am so grateful to God that he has already had the hard work completed before I arrived at my own issues with DUI – Disciple Under the Influence.
Our measurement of a true Man of God is the same measurement put forward by the authors of our faith. The breakdown in righteous leadership has had very little to do with knowing the right way to discipline an out of control Pastor versus allowing into the discussion excuses for him to continue to unfaithfully serve.
The Standard
I Timothy 3:1-7
1 Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task. 2 Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.
4 He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full[a] respect. 5 (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?) 6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. 7 He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil’s trap.
The P.I.S.S. Test
A Pastor operating in sexual sin is unfit for service – plain and simple. Sin and Righteousness cannot co-exist despite this New Age doctrine that grades Christians on a remedial scale. There is no substitute for the truth as there is no honorable service performed by a Fornicator. If the love of God is not enough to convince a Pastor not to cheat on his wife then the Fear of God should more than compensate. For this reason a Fornicating Pastor should be Dishonorably Discharged!
No longer will we as the Body of Christ allow the so-called Man of God to have a wife and a little Boo on the side. No longer will we allow the Pastor to remarry over and over again, creating his very own episode of the Ex-Wives Club. No longer will we listen to the rumors of the latest Pastor Sex Scandal without addressing it with him immediately. No longer will we tolerate Pastors In Sexual Sin (P.I.S.S).
Sin breeds Sin no matter if it’s Charles Parham, Paul Crouch, or your Pastor. If a person has had a stroke then the impact of that condition within the brain will also affect their dexterity, functionality, and mobility. In likewise manner, if your Pastor (the head) has suffered a spiritual stroke, how can you expect the congregation (the body) to function or demonstrate Spiritual mobility?
The answer is very simple, perhaps too simple to be accepted as truth, but it is the truth. If you are connected to a Pastor who is engaging in Sexual Sin then you have positioned yourself under incompetent leadership. How can he minister to you in this condition and what would he minister to you about? How can he serve as your teacher when he is really in need of firm biblical instruction?
Maybe, just maybe, this is the reason why we are starting to hear more messages about “money coming to me now” and fewer messages about resisting the temptations of the devil.
So to help you determine if your Pastor is fit for service we have complied our very own P.I.S.S. Test. How you react to the results at the end of the test is entirely up to you, but the one thing you can never say from this point forward is you had no clue as to how to handle the many issues concerning your Pastor.
