When the Word Network first lunched over 10 years ago I thought it was about time some of the African American Preachers got a little face time on TV, but keep in mind that 10 years ago I was still infected with Mad Church Disease.
Over the last 10 years I have witnessed the Word Network become the main Pimping Channel for some of the most slimiest preachers the Body of Christ has ever endured.
What started as a source of pride (speaking of The Word Network) has now become a clear warning sign that you’re about to encounter a false teacher. What TBN is for White Christians, regretfully the Word Network is now for African Americans. It also appears that the Word Network has taught the “Ghetto Preachers” how to build a massive audience through constant brand development, consequently you can’t even wait for a bus without seeing an advertisement for a Preacher.
Many of us are accustomed to all of the many billboards for Preachers that pollute the skylines of urban cites, but I was completely disgusted to see that the saturation has now gone to ground level.
A few days ago my daughter was getting her hair twisted on Broad St. in New Orleans when I came across this bus stop advertisement that almost caused me to rear end the truck in front of me. I immediately made the block to get a closer look at the sign, and couldn’t believe it, the pimps are now recruiting at the bus stop.
I was particularly saddened by this because New Orleans is not a city like New York in which people rely on public transit out of convenience rather than necessity; no quite frankly it’s the other way around. New Orleans is a City that in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina the world witnessed over 40,000 people stranded outside of the Superdome, because in New Orleans at least 40,000 per day depended on city buses to migrate.
So it’s no wonder that a predator pastor like Steve O. Allen is now licking his greasy chops to get his hands on more poor people. Pastor Allen Ministries has made a living off poor people since the New Home Ministry Mafia crowned him in 1999. What Rev. Ike was to New York, Charles Blake Sr. was to New Orleans. Their entire strategy was based on finding the poorest of the poor and preaching them happy.
New Home Ministries under the leadership of Charles Blake Sr. had developed a growth strategy that spawned urban ministers throughout the city of New Orleans, first starting with the sons of Charles Blakes, R.C. Blakes Jr. & Samuel Blakes. Then in true predator form, after Katrina the Blakes took their Tithe Collecting Machine to Houston (sorry Houston for everything we sent your way) to continue devouring the resources of the poor without even a 1% return on their investment.

Urban Ministries are the same as pay loan companies and rental furniture outlets, I should know because I worked for both. Aarons has made billions off poor people because they figured out that poor people hate to look poor even if it requires them to sink themselves in debt.
Not to be out done, Urban Ministries have figured this out as well, which also explains the “Building Fund.” Remember I said “poor people don’t like to look poor” so despite the fact that they live in the Lafitte Housing Projects, the preachers coral their hopes of owning a new home by building a brand new church.
Now they belong to something new and pretty, now they’re setting next to the “rich folk” or better yet the “people with money” as we say in New Orleans, only to return back to the Lafitte Projects after a fantastic emotional voyage.
In Laplace Louisiana, which was hit extremely hard during Hurricane Isaac, Pastor Allen has built a monster of a ministry in the poorest sections of the town. I should know because I helped move him into the first church when it opened 11 years ago, and for that Lord I repent.
Right after the New Home Ministries Mafia jumped Pastor Allen into their gang, I volunteered to help for his grand opening kickoff. In the same fashion as a McDonalds Franchise ribbon cutting, New Home Ministries opened their first expansion church in LaPlace with the same franchise agenda, suck in the poorest of the poor. Pastor Allen now has a bigger and better facility to practice the doctrine of the Christian Cosa Nostra as taught by his Don Charles Blakes Sr, but their target audience remains the poor in Laplace Louisiana.
It wasn’t until after Katrina when I worked for Direct TV that I came face to face with the wealth of the New Home Ministry Mafia. God was preparing me for PimpPreacher.com 7 years ago because one of the first service calls I did was for R.C. Blakes Jr. and I couldn’t believe how rich this guy really was. Being that I was a member of their ministries in the 90’s I knew immediately the moment I entered his home that my tithes and offerings paid for this huge house on the Lake in Kenner, Louisiana.
Unbeknownst to Pastor Blakes, I had sat through many of his messages on tithes and how my “Untapped Potential” was connected to my obedience.Yes Pastor Blakes, I was there, and listened intensely. As I worked outside of his house I couldn’t help but notice a front license plate sign on his daughter’s car that read “Big Rich” and she was right on.
God showed me at that moment where the tithe was going, and how it was being spent. I said to myself on that day that I would never in life give a preacher another dime – which also gave birth to the Church Folk Revolution.

Pastors of Urban Ministries have managed to become a stand-alone demographic by ascending to financial levels that many of us could only dream of, here are only a few of the perks.
His Relocation – Many Urban Pastors don’t live around the pulpits where they preach because many of the same pulpits are in the worst sections of town. Nevertheless, the people who occupy the pews are perfectly ok with the pastor living in the suburbs as long as he periodically acknowledges their attendance in service, and he’s skilled at the Art of Preaching. Where he lives is consider a gated community and quite often a golf course is his backyard. Through preaching he is now able to live in the mist of homeowners who financed their properties with funding derived from the private sector, while his entire portfolio is based on an uninterrupted flow of church donations.
His Children – The Urban Pastor’s kids only interact with the congregation during church service, but the revenue generated from tithes & offerings has afforded them a very integrated but unequal lifestyle. His Children are often adorned as royalty simply because they’re considered “Preacher Kids.” This same adornment is often withheld for children the Pastor has fertilized outside of his marriage, unfortunately they are ignored by the church. They attend the best schools, their first cars are expensive cars, and they are first in the line of succession to take over the ministry. This entire lifestyle, and more, is made accessible because their father is the Pastor, and paid for it all with tithes & offerings.
His Wife – The Urban Pastor’s wife is more than just a wife according to the pastor, she is now the co-pastor. A term unheard of prior to Bishop Paul Morton making it famous in the 90’s, the wife has gone from mother of the church to an additional pastor in less than 60 seconds. With no formal training in nothing other than “I sleep with my husband” she has now emerge as an additional bureaucratic figure head that demands the same respect as the First Lady in the District of Columbia. Detached & kept is the best way to describe Mrs. Urban Pastor as she has gradually worked her way into the decision making and day to day operations of the ministry. In 1775 France call it Qu'ils mangent de la brioche (Let them eat cake) – In Urban Ministries the Co- Pastor calls it Favor Ain’t Fair.

It is my belief that your Urban Ministry is a bubble that will burst in the same manner as the Housing Bubble popped in 2006. Anything that is built on inflated principles, and pulls in too many uncommitted investors will not survive the turbulence of liquidity ratios. In other words, God is going to dry up the money and separate to truly Called by God, from the Called by Glut.
As Hurricane Isaac’s flood waters continue to flow into the homes of Pastor Allen’s Church members in Laplace, Louisiana, New Home Ministries & Destiny Christian Centers should be the first aid source instead of FEMA. The fact that the members of Pastor Allen & New Home Ministries have to rely on FEMA once again instead of all of “The Meat” that has been stored in Pastor Allen’s storehouse, speaks to the selfishness of the entire Urban Ministry Cartel. Soon they will see, as I saw it in 2006 that you guys are truly “Big Rich” off the backs of poor people.
They gave their money to you because they have connected with you, but the longer you continue to expand while they decrease – so too will their funds decrease. There will soon come a time when you can no longer “preach them happy” because their discontent from the pews will make it too difficult for you to preach.
I pray that God will pop this Urban Ministry bubble because what has caused it to expand wasn’t the love of Christ and charity for the poor, but nothing more than pus. Having said that, today is a day of rejoicing because God has brought the Urban Ministry face to face with an insurgency of Christian Soldiers known as the
Church Folk Revolution!!!!
