Bishop Eddie Long Reach A Settlement

There has been a settlement in the Bishop Eddie Long case according to Attorney B.J. Bernstein. A spokesperson for Bishop Eddie Long could not be reached for comment, but Attorney Bernstein has already reported the resolution to the media. The exact details of the settlement were not announced and sources close to the case report that the public as well as Long’s congregation at New Birth may never know all of the details of this case.
On May the 11th Pimp Preacher.com reported that the Judge in the case was preparing for trial later this summer, but today’s announcement appears to be the end of a scandal that involved one of the most popular preachers in Atlanta and four men who claimed that they we’re coerced into sex.
Plaintiff's attorney B.J. Bernstein declined further comment Thursday. A spokesman for Bishop Eddie Long could not immediately be reached.
The young men maintained in a September lawsuit that Long, the leader of the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, coerced them into sexual relationships. The men say Long abused his spiritual authority to lure them into trysts with cars, jewelry and cash when they were 17 and 18.
Pastor Saiko Woods a spokesperson for the Preacher Bureau of Investigations (PBI) and the author of A Church Gone Wild says when a righteous man maintains his integrity there is nothing to hide, fear or settle for.
“This is just another unfortunate attempt to discredit the faithful men who preach and teach the Word of God with the likes Bishop Eddie Long who promoted a false claim of sexual misconduct as a Pastor. Churches need to be aware and hold Pastors accountable for their lifestyle and doctrine 1 Timothy 4:16"
